Who gets what, when

Token Unlock Simulator

Model a token supply schedule: allocations to team, investors, community and treasury with cliffs and vesting periods, and see the circulating supply and the monthly unlocks over five years.

What this tool does

Most tokens do not circulate at launch. Founders, investors and foundations hold locked allocations that unlock on a schedule, and every unlock is potential selling pressure. The simulator takes four allocations with a cliff and a linear vesting period each, plus an initial float, and draws the circulating supply month by month with the unlock volume underneath. It is the chart every investor should draw before buying a token and rarely does.

How to use it

  • Set the total supply and the share that circulates on day one.
  • For each allocation enter the share, the cliff in months and the vesting period in months.
  • Read the circulating percentage after one, two and five years, the largest monthly unlock and when it happens.

Good to know

  • Real schedules are published in a project’s documentation; the simulator is for understanding them, not a substitute for reading them.
  • Emissions from staking or mining add supply on top of unlocks and are not modelled here.
  • A large unlock is not automatically a sale; it is the possibility of one.
